Module One

  • Identify 3 aspects of the AIP Model for effective case conceptualization and treatment planning

  • Demonstrate and name the 8 phases of EMDR therapy for comprehensive treatment

  • Identify essential aspects of preparing a client for EMDR Therapy

  • Explain the relational and holistic elements of EMDR Therapy

  • Explain the 3-Prong Approach and know how to use it for comprehensive targeting

  • Identify the purpose of utilizing the SUD scale and the VOC scale

  • Recognize therapy-interfering beliefs that may need to be addressed in order for treatment to proceed

  • Explain and apply comprehensive EMDR treatment plans

  • Practice how to stabilize a client with Safe/Calm Place

  • Explain the history of EMDR development

  • Identify the range of issues EMDR can treat

  • Explain how to complete in-take sessions from an EMDR perspective

  • Distinguish the pros and cons of different bilateral stimulation tools

  • Recognize best strategies for virtual EMDR sessions

  • Practice EMDR techniques with other students

  • Select best practices for talking to clients about EMDR

  • Identify how blocking beliefs impact EMDR processing

Module Two

  • Restate and summarize important information from weekend one

  • Analyze clinical symptoms that may indicate the need to assess for dissociation

  • Distinguish between different tools for working with client dissociation

  • Explain and compare the different categories of resources

  • Identify when to use specialty protocols

  • Practice EMDR resourcing with other students

  • Identify when to use cognitive interweaves and other clinical interventions during EMDR processing

  • Identify when the Recent Events Protocol would be appropriate as an intervention

  • Identify 3 differences in applying EMDR therapy to working with children

  • Practice the full 8 Phase EMDR Therapy Protocol

  • Identify when and how to use EMDR with addictions

  • Practice specialty protocols and cognitive interweaves

  • Recognize how to use EMDR with personality disorders

  • Explain and apply complex EMDR treatment plans

  • Distinguish between the need to target a single symptom or a more complex presentation

  • Assessing whether to start EMDR processing with either a past memory or a present trigger

  • Practice the EMDR resource protocol

  • Identify ways to use EMDR with children

  • Explain the EMD protocol

  • Recognize how to use EMDR to treat grief

Additional Information

EMDR training is for therapists new to EMDR (beginner-level)

  • This training is intended for licensed or pre-licensed counselors and therapists who work directly with clients.  Graduate students on a licensure track are also eligible 

  • No previous EMDR experience is necessary

  • Participants who need to cancel their reservations are entitled to a full refund, provided they cancel and request the refund at least seven days before the first training 

  • Participants who begin the EMDR training must complete the entire training within 24 months from their initial start date 

  • 10 hours of consultation are required in order to complete the EMDR training. These hours are included in the registration fee and will occur roughly halfway between the first and second trainings
